I am house/dog sitting at my nephews place this weekend. He has 2 dogs Ella and Menphis {pictures will follow} I was trying to figure out how to turn on his tv and happened to look out the sliding glass door. As I looked out a young buck stepped into view. So much for 2 hunting dogs in the house. So the weatherman last night said we could get a "dusting" of snow. Well that didn't happen, its been a blizzard since 530 am when I got up so far about 6" that's a hell of a dusting!

The head/new news

This is the second time "The head" has made my blog. My older and younger brother have been adding one thing to the head and then pass it to the other for year, then it is the others turn. The cheese head was this years addtion.

Now those of you who know my father will know he never gets excited about anything, and wont be surprised by the lack of joy. He was stumped about how we got it in the house and kept it from him all this time. He has been watching this camera for some time. Every time he went to look at it my mother would tell him he couldn't spend that much money on a damn camera (she was down right mean about it) We did a good job picking it out tho. He only quit playing with it long enough to charge the battery and eat dinner. But then again I was only there for like 10 hours who knows what happened when I left.

I was at my mother and fathers yesterday, when a Flicker flew in to their window. So always looking for a good photo I ran outside to snap a few shots. My sister who was also in to see the folks was taking pictures from inside the house and so I turn my camera on her. This turned out to be a very interesting photo. Some times it just turns out better than one would think. The reflections are coming of the wood shed.

So I wanted to sign up on "twitter" I have seen that tgt has had good success with it and I thought I could give the little updates on my blog from my phone since I haven't had anything big to blog about lately. So I signed up and I'm not sure how it works I thought I could do up dates by phone but they don't tell you how to use the damn thing when you sign up? I can give an update by going on line as you can see in the upper right hand side it says "nothing much" And that's what I think of twitter so far "Nothing much". If you are a twitter or if your tgt please help!

On another note:
We all remember my ipod troubles RIGHT?well they seem to be gone for good now, I have had the same one for a year or so now. So my poor daughter who only has this little stick thing is now going to be the proud owner of my back up music player, the Sony "walkman". Its pink and I formatted it and then I converted 682 songs to a high quality mp3 format then loaded 268 of them in to it for her and will be sending it her way soon.

Just you watch about the time it gets to her my ipod will crash...... But I have the extended warranty. (see I told you I'm not dumb!)

See there, that's where I hit a tree branch...it left a dent in my helmet! Not to mention rang my bell and made my neck hurt for days! Okay now here is the deal, they say when you fall (of hit a fricking tree) you should replace your helmet, but the say even if you don't hit your head, because there can be damage to the helmet you can't see. So if you CAN see where there is damage then I'm pretty sure it should be tossed! So here is the new one, I'm a cheap S.O.B. so I wont spend $90 bucks on a helmet that says "Giro" on it, but I will spend $20 on one that says "Bell" and has the same safety rating!

And just look it is that special color that will go good with my bike!

Oh and by the way this is the 3rd helmet for this bike and the post before this one was the 333rd post, just keepin the 3's going!

Update, I just got the OKAY to cut the branch that did the damage! It will fall shortly!

Three is the number! Yup that's three thousand three hundred thirty three point three miles on the bike. Now just guess what my favorite number is? Nope its 3. You know like Jesus was 33 when put on the cross, he was there for three days then put in his tomb and three days later rose and walked the earth for three days. Or how many does it take to make a family? 3 that's how many. How many band members are in the band RUSH? 3 again. Then there is Peter, Paul and Mary the three stooges the list goes on, but the miles on my bike were the last goal I had for my bike. I will have to try and come up with another one are two, I'm not ready to get a new bike and start all over just yet.

That's right it DELANEY, just one of my 3 niece's. All three of them will be her for the forth of July. In fact only my brother and his wife and there son wont be here (Delaney is here for them tho) This is about as close as a family Reunion as we have had in a long, long time. And just think no one had to die to get this to happen! There will of coarse be a ton of pictures taken. just the trip yesterday I took almost 100. Yep, this little guy was just hangin' around Target the other day and so I just had to get his picture.

Its a little brown bat, his body is about 1 1/2 inches long and his wing span is a whopping 6 inches. The best part is he eats his weight in bugs every night.

Birthday fishing trip

As you scroll down you will see all the fish I caught

I mean being here fishing on your birthday is such a great way to spend the afternoon, fighting all those fish with this looking down on you.

It was sunny and warm although we were deep in a canyon catching fish.

Not far from this spot my father caught a 15 pound 5 ounce German Brown trout about this time of year. the fishing is really good here.

This is what the side (east) deck looked like and it went around the back to the side walk in a picture below.

And this is the front of the house, how it looks now. There was a roof that went over the deck that is why there is a color change in the shingles. Just to give you an idea we pulled 40 pounds of nails and staples out doing this. My brother saved all the wood to burn in his wood stove. we will be replacing the roof with a metal one, and the deck will be enlarged and done with pavers. I will be heading back out as soon as the concrete guy is done.

Today my OLDER brother turns 52 an old man for sure! I will be spending a lot of time with him starting today. He will be picking me up and we are going fishing. Yeah he is just a little thing but at least it looks like a fish...lol Its a Rainbow trout for those who didn't know (yesterdays was a German brown trout)

This is a Buzzard there were about 8 of them flying around today (I tried to look as alive as I could but they kept coming back) I have more pictures of them and a video I will post later.

This was a chance shot, they are a little skittish, but where I was doesn't get a lot of human traffic (more on that coming later also)

I will be out of touch with a computer after Tuesday so I will try to post every day till then. I will be helping my brother at his log cabin and do not know how long I will be gone.

Now I know what your thinking, How did I get such a perfect shot of a flopping fish with a camera phone? I just can't believe it turned out so well either! Granted it was a whopping 9 or 10 inches long and flopping around like a fish out of water but it was the first fish of the year! This is what I had for dinner, it was okay. This was the worst trip to the pine tavern. In fact its the only time I have ever had a complaint there. The food was so so and the service was POOR!

So I was at my parents house today, giving my mother her mothers day gift (but some damn sister beat me to it....and I will beat her yes you know who you are!) But I'm not upset I just worked for two days on loading pictures in to it and all just to find out my sister gave her one for Christmas! Oops got a little off track here. Well here is a post that I was trying to put off in tell I got some pictures. But the weather SUCKS so bad over the last week that I wouldn't take my camera out in this crap. I mean it is MAY and snowing!. But anywhoooo he is the post.

But this guy...... He is a whole new story. I had never seen him or any duck like him. So I had to get a few shots and go look him up in my bird books. Nope I couldn't find it? In one book it did not surprise me but the other one I was a little surprised. So I did what I always do when this happens. I sent the picture to my father and gave him a try. Well sure enough my father looked at it and sent me a name but wasn't sure it was right either. So I went on a search and my father was real close, This is a American Wigeon. I could not find anything on them here in Oregon but they are found in Washington (not DC Jag)

Now she thinks I need my eyes checked! Just because I think she is a good looking lady. Well let me set her straight!

I just spent a small fortune getting my eyes checked and 3 new pair of glasses. And I only have one bad eye ( and I had it closed when I was looking) I now where my glasses all the time they are open (and some of the time there not)
So any of my readers that want to check my eye sight just pop over to her blog (its listed to the right) and check her out. Oh and she does like to be stalked!

My sister took most of these and in this one she says he is part frog? I'm sure there is more to it and I want to know! don't you. Well come on Terry tell us!

Gabe takes after grandpa, he can take some good pictures too. He took this one of his great uncle Dave. Not to bad for a kid under the age of 3!

Gabe is always happy when there is food around, and there was a lot of it last night from what I hear.

Now there might be a cuter kid somewhere in the world but I have my doubts. My sister and her husband have been out traveling the country for what seems like for ever. And they have ended up at my daughters place. Of course I had to beg and plead and cry to get her to go see them....NOT! Gabe here is the first grandchild in the family, so he demands attention. Are at least he gets a lot of it.

And I think it messed up his sleeping schedule lol.

Now I would love to claim he got this from me, but that would be the biggest lie I ever told. (I can't dance a lick) I don't mean I have 2 left feet, then I could claim some talent. No I have no rhythm on my feet! But his grandma can cut a rug, in fact she is the best dancer I have ever met... yes she is my X but that changes nothing when it comes to dancing. I use to take her out just to watch her. So he got that from her, but EVERYTHING else is from me. lol

Well I must of been blind, but now I see! I had lost my glasses over a year ago walking my brothers dog. And had been using the ol $10 reading glasses you buy at the drug store. Do you know what you get when you buy $10 reading glasses? You get $3 reading glasses! I guess my eye's had gotten a little worse over the last three years, I went from a 1.25 to a 1.50 But I do see up close so much better.

Yep it was a PARTY at Ken's tonight!!!!!

The day has finally come! And ken partied like there was now tomorrow. (but there better be I have one more steak left). Anyway you are wondering why I would be partying? Well just hold on a second and I will inform you.

On 6-2-08 I called and made my first of many dentist appointments. And for nine months, one surgery and many,many sores, I went to the dentist and followed their instructions to the letter. And here it is 2-24-09 and I had my last adjustment. I told them what I was having for dinner and they said that normally someone at my stage would not be eating that so soon if ever, but that I had been above the curve all along. So I am now DONE with the dentist visits, for about a year which is normal.... What was I having for dinner you ask? here is what was on the table. 1 LARGE "T" bones steak cooked medium well (they are a little harder to chew lol) A good sized baked potato, green beans and a salad. I cooked and prepared the whole thing. IT WAS THE BEST DAMN STEAK I HAVE EVER EATON!!

Now for the story behind the story.

I had bought 2 "T" bones before I went in for surgery and was going to eat them tonight but when I thawed them out they were no good been in the freezer to long I guess. I was so pissed, But I was determined to have my "T" bones I have been through a lot to get to this point. So I went to the store and bought 3 just because! Now you know what I will be eating tomorrow night also!

And to the people that made this all possible and to my family for all there support , I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This is what the fence looked like before I got started. Nice huh? My nephew has been a very busy man, and needed to get this fixed. So Uncle ken to the rescue! And now the fence looks like the photos below.

I think this looks a little better than the old one what do you think. The people next door REALLY like it!

The deck is done

My nephew now has a 42 foot by 10 foot deck out back. It took 3 days (2 of which my brother was there to help) Tomorrow a hot tub should show up, but I will be working on the fence. I got most of the holes dug today, and will set the post tomorrow. I think he is happy with it all so far we will see what he thinks when the fence is done.

Six years, that's how long I have lived here in Bend. And it is also how long I have been trying to get a picture of a Elk! Well my nephew called me today and asked if I would like to gets some pictures of a four point Bull Elk....... I bet you can't guess what I said. So here are a few of the shots I took. I also put the ones my nephew took in to my computer and will be posting some of them, and the rest of the ones I took. This Elk let me get so close I had to pull the zoom in to fit his head in the frame.

Tomorrow is the big day!

Well tomorrow is the day I have my last dentist visit, I have been going to the dentist almost twice a month for 7 months now. I will be with out my dentures all day but when I get them back that afternoon I will be DONE.

Don't get me wrong my dentist and his staff are top notch, but I will be glad its over, and glad the monkey mouth feeling these dentures give me will be gone. I have a "T" bone steak waiting for me.... I just don't know when I will be home to eat it. My nephew has found more for me to do for him...... Kids... go figure.

A mile stone hits my family

Yep,its a big one that not many get to see. I and my 2 brothers and 2 sisters are lucky to be part of this, the 55th wedding anniversary of our parents. The picture below is one of them at there 25th in Hawaii. But this time they are in Yuma Az. where it is nice and warm also. They are staying in the motor home on the left. The one on the right is my oldest sister and her husbands. They are not with my parents now, but were down there last week. They are planing a quiet evening mom just got out of the hospital and needs to rest. But their children and grand children and that one great grandson wish them a happy anniversary and we send our love!

My project

These pictures are of another section of the fence, I can't find the ones I took of the part I was working on? I might have them at home. I have been house sitting at my nephews for a while and he asked me to do a few things around his place while he was gone. I hope the next time I do this I am replacing this section, it may look bad but its in great shape compared to the part I was working on!

There is more rock here than at any other place I have ever worked on, but I did get 5 holes dug and I think the fence looks much better than the old one did.

I will be going home tomorrow, but rumor has it he may need me to watch his place again next week for a few days. If he does I will be happy to do that. Its not like I have a bunch going on in tell the 12th anyway.

Remember the movie the birds?

In the movie birds were every where, And in these shots they were also. Watching me, watching every move I made. The only difference was that to get rid of them I just had to open the door and let the dog out. But there were hundreds of them out there.

These are some pictures I took at my nephews house. The birds were there because it had started to warm up and the snow was melting. It would pool in and on the rocks and they were drinking it as fast as it melted.
